Ruthven Pastoral Charge

Dean and John are leaving for Haiti on Monday, November 19. We wish them well with the Christmas Gifts and Food they will be distributing.

HAITI MISSION PROJECT
CALLEBASSE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
2001-2007

In 2001 Ruthven Pastoral Charge began sponsoring Callebasse Christian School in Haiti. Harold Lapoint, his daughter Karen Kennedy and the ACWAM Team went down in 2001. We John Blair, became our Mission Coordinator, and has been visiting Haiti each year to watch the progress. John's first visit was with an ACWAM Team in Oct 2002. The first floor of the school had just been completed. The team were given the job of painting the interior walls a bright pink. What an exciting project! John returned to visit the school in 2003. In Feb he helped out at GLA (God's Littlest Angels Orphanage) & he returned in Dec with Jack Lecot to celebrate Christmas with the children at Callebasse. In May 2004, Lyle Smith & John visited the school. They took Bibles donated by the Gideons & presented Nixon with a guitar to lead in singing. They had a great time singing & dancing with the children. In Dec 2004 John, Jack & Ian Panton took over 200 Christmas Gifts to Haiti. The 'Santas' celebrated Christmas at Callebasse Christian School & GLA. In Dec 2005 John & Linda Blair, Jack Lecot & Garry Cranston travelled to Haiti to deliver Christmas gifts once again. They also distributed 78 Food Packages to families at the school. Sept 2006 Emmanuel United Church joined the project. Their support has been wonderful! John, Jack & Dean Shoemaker took Christmas gifts in Dec 2006. Perhaps YOU would like to join John on an exciting adventure!

This year John has initiated a new project for the school. He will deliver Back to School Back-Packs for the children at Callebasse Christian School. That's over 100 Back-Packs! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR DONATIONS! He also plans on returning the end of Nov to play 'Santa' once again. We will be
collecting Christmas gifts for over 200 children at the school & at GLA. THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF THIS WONDERFUL & EXCITING PROJECT IN HAITI! TOGETHER WE CAN. Callebasse Christian School MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

BACK TO SCHOOL BACK-PACKS

We have been busy packing BACK TO SCHOOL BACK-PACKS for the children at Callebasse Christian School in Haiti. They follow a similar school year as we do here in Canada. Principal Nixon reports that they will be returning to school on Sept 11/07. Many of you have made donations to fill Back-Packs for the children. Nixon is excited to hear of our new project and tells us that 120 children will attend the school this year! How wonderful! We have been collecting paper, pencils, erasers, pencil cases, etc for the Back-Packs and John is busy organizing the donations. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!

John and a team of 4 will be travelling to Haiti on Sept 18/07 and returning Sept 27/07. They will be taking as many Back-Packs as possible. They also plan on supplying Food Bags for the families when they visit Callebasse Christian School. Nixon, the teachers, and the children are exited that Papa John is coming for another visit! Please keep the team in your thoughts and prayers as they travel to Haiti!!

John also plans on returning to Haiti the last week in November to take Christmas gifts for over 200 children at the school and at GLA (God's Littlest Angels Orphanage). We appreciate your donations. Christmas is a special time for sharing and it is a blessing to be able to share our blessings with the children of Haiti. We will be collecting small toys, balls, yoyos, frisbees, dolls, hair clips, etc. When you go shopping just pick up an extra item and bring it to the Church. Our next Fund-raiser will be our ANNUAL WALK-A-THON held on Oct 13/07. Walk, run, or bicycle on the Chrysler Greenway from Kingsville to Ruthven. Sponsor Forms are available at the Churches. If you are unable to join us, please sponsor one of our walkers/joggers/runners etc. Please pass the word along to your family and friends - THE MORE THE MERRIER!
