CSI and Other Mysteries

Do you like mysteries? I do. CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) is my favourite TV Show. It’s not the crimes I enjoy witnessing, or the gruesome autopsies (sometimes I close my eyes), but I can’t resist the intrigue of solving the mysteries. The newest forensic science techniques are amazing. The crime is always solved by very intelligent and attractive investigators, and all in just one hour!

Of course, I’ve always enjoyed mysteries. On Sunday evenings I used to faithfully watch Murder She Wrote. Jessica Fletcher (played by Angela Lansbury) helped solve the murders in her own sweet way. She reminded me of a dear friend, and I admired her determination, as well as her wonderful powers of deductive reasoning.

So I like Murder Mysteries and Crime Investigations. I am fascinated by Space Travel. I enjoy tackling Crossword Puzzles, Cryptoquotes and Word Scrabbles. I think they all have one thing in common - the MYSTERY OF IT ALL. So what is it about MYSTERIES that intrigue us? What is it about the unknown, the unexplored, the undiscovered? Perhaps it’s the challenge, the opportunity, the possibility of what might be! Yes, in every great mystery lies the possibility of something wonderful being revealed.

What MYSTERY challenges us all? The mystery of creation. LIFE IS THE GREATEST MYSTERY, THE GREATEST CHALLENGE, THE GREATEST POSSIBILITY. It’s up to us to solve the mystery of life in our own way. With God’s guidance we find the unknown, see the obscure, uncover the hidden, solve the puzzle.

Perhaps this time of the year is the time for solving mysteries. Possibilities are all around us. Spring brings new life, new hope, new promise. From tiny seeds come bright flowers; from cocoons come beautiful butterflies; from dead ground comes green growth; from brown branches come pink and white blossoms. All around us God reveals the mystery of life!

Will we ever solve all the mysteries of life? I hope not. We need a challenge. May God give us strength to face every challenge, and may every challenge bring us closer to our God! MYSTERIOUS, isn’t it?
